Bio - Adria Di Maria

Allow me to introduce myself, Adria Di Maria, and the exciting world of Para-equestrian dressage, a sport which has been developing over the past 25 years. Athletes are classified according to their level of disability and compete on a national and international level. I contracted Polio in 1955, and as a result have significant weakness in both of my legs.

My goal is simple: I plan on being the best challenged rider I can be. This means being not only a member of our proud US Para-equestrian Team, but also a respected and contributing member of the community. As a Para-equestrian competitor, I hope to become an ambassador for the disabled athlete and to the world community in the specialty of Para Dressage at the Paralympics in 2012/ England.

The Hoedown is just nine days away! Sarah and I settled on our music ( theme from The Man from Snowy River).... and found matching fun vests / bow ties/ white breeches/ tall boots and white wraps on the horses. It is all coming together nicely. At this point, I'm riding Rocky , an appendex, and Sarah is rding Bueller, the Belgium Warmblood.

Rode the black TB , Havakatz, again today. His gait is smooth as silk and it is so wonderful to ride a horse in a such collected frame! Really feel like we are making great progress! So greatful to Kim for allowing me to use her wonderful horse.

For all Pan Pan's followers, he continues to enjoy country life . He has become a bit over posessive of his girl..Princess Fiona. And when she is out of her stall..his crys of love are recognized all over the stable area... and beyond! He so looks forward to our rides ..I think if he could saddle himself he would. He seems to be doing much better with his new shoes and reduced schedule. Pan is still the star around the barn, collecting love pats and friendly hello's from students and staff alike. If only I could clone him. What a boy.
