Bio - Adria Di Maria

Allow me to introduce myself, Adria Di Maria, and the exciting world of Para-equestrian dressage, a sport which has been developing over the past 25 years. Athletes are classified according to their level of disability and compete on a national and international level. I contracted Polio in 1955, and as a result have significant weakness in both of my legs.

My goal is simple: I plan on being the best challenged rider I can be. This means being not only a member of our proud US Para-equestrian Team, but also a respected and contributing member of the community. As a Para-equestrian competitor, I hope to become an ambassador for the disabled athlete and to the world community in the specialty of Para Dressage at the Paralympics in 2012/ England.

Today, I worked with Bueller, the Belgium Warm Blood. ( Pan Pan had the day off) Bueller was noticeably forward and a fun ride. He looks good with potential for a show horse. I participated as a rider in a mock lesson where two potential instructors practiced for their tests. Lots of good interaction.

Pan Pan got new shoes!.... Tony , his farrier, decided light weight aluminium shoes would be good for his ring bone ( horse arthritis in the lower leg.) We'll give a couple of days off to adjust. They are bright and shiny and I feel like he should click three times and ask if we're in Kansas yet!.
Getting ready for an up coming clinic with Sandy Webster, on the "leading method" which is going to be video taped for the NARHA conference in November. Reins is in summer break so I'm going to help and ride horses the next several weeks, which is great training and something I enjoy. Life is good.

Had a very busy weekend at REINS! End of the year Horse event and I had my first solo art show. It was a big success with kind and wonderful comments from all and I even sold a fair amount of my art work. All proceeds go towards helping Sarah and I get to the Kansas City Show. Thanks to all! For all those interested , check out my website..www.adriadimaria.com. The staff/volunteers and riders participating in the weekend festivities were fabulous and a great time was had by all. Although we didn't ride in this show, Pan Pan got lots of love pats from just about everyone...of course.
