Bio - Adria Di Maria

Allow me to introduce myself, Adria Di Maria, and the exciting world of Para-equestrian dressage, a sport which has been developing over the past 25 years. Athletes are classified according to their level of disability and compete on a national and international level. I contracted Polio in 1955, and as a result have significant weakness in both of my legs.

My goal is simple: I plan on being the best challenged rider I can be. This means being not only a member of our proud US Para-equestrian Team, but also a respected and contributing member of the community. As a Para-equestrian competitor, I hope to become an ambassador for the disabled athlete and to the world community in the specialty of Para Dressage at the Paralympics in 2012/ England.

Had a very busy day. Sarah and I did a dry run of our joint ride for the October 10th Hoedown at REINS! This is a large fun raising event with about 600 guests with music , dancing , games, silent auction. etc. Tickets are available for anyone interested. Our practice went well and we had great fun on our matching chestnut geldings(Bueller & Rocky). The dust was heavy but didn't cloud our enthusiasm.

Later, took Pan for a ride and did some cantering. His hock sores are looking better. Decided putting cream on his hocks at night, "fluffing" the shavings in his stall nightly seems to do the trick! Really enjoying riding both these wonderful horses.

Let me introduce Ferus Bueller. He is an 11 year Belgium Warmblood who recently came to Reins. He is a sweet boy with wonderful movements..but a bit lazy. I have been alternating between riding him and Pan Pan. We will be having a contest to rename this big boy...so keep watching for details. (someone thought Stud muffin...just kidding)

Pan and I had a great ride today....Had lots of company..with everyone out for a morning jog! We were happy campers with all the good camaraderie. Pan Pan is getting use to his new shoes and seemed to be more comfortable. The aluminum shoes are pretty high ..almost like walking on tippy toes!

There is a great team behind every rider. I can't thank the folks at Reins Theraputic Riding enough for the wonderful support they have shown me. A very special place filled with wonderful folks!
