Bio - Adria Di Maria

Allow me to introduce myself, Adria Di Maria, and the exciting world of Para-equestrian dressage, a sport which has been developing over the past 25 years. Athletes are classified according to their level of disability and compete on a national and international level. I contracted Polio in 1955, and as a result have significant weakness in both of my legs.

My goal is simple: I plan on being the best challenged rider I can be. This means being not only a member of our proud US Para-equestrian Team, but also a respected and contributing member of the community. As a Para-equestrian competitor, I hope to become an ambassador for the disabled athlete and to the world community in the specialty of Para Dressage at the Paralympics in 2012/ England.

Well, as I pulled up to the stable today, I could hear my boy Pan Pan in the background. ( For those of you who don't know.....he is quite the "chatty" fellow!) but this was an unusal about of verbalizations. He had been turned out and was having a grand time socializing with all the geldings. They all took turns grooming him..... rock star comes to town... It was fun to see. I don't think Pan Pan has been allowed herd interaction in years! While he was socializing, I had my formal lesson on a new horse, Bueller, a Belgium warm blood 16 2 hands. Bueller is a newcomer to the barn. He has a very smooth gate, and although he was a sluggish to start...we made great progress by lessons' end. There is lots of potential to grow and compete with this horse. How exciting!
